Knightdale Animal Hospital Virtual Tour

Waiting and Retail Area

Welcome to Knightdale Animal Hospital.  As soon as you enter the door and glance to your left, you will see the retail area.  We sell a wide range of products: Hill's Science Diet Food, dental care items, shampoo, pet cologne, and homemade pet blankets.  There is also a small bank of kitty condos where a select few of our boarders may stay.

To the right is our large reception desk where Lisa or Carol will be waiting to assist you.

As you continue to the right on our tour, you will go down a long hallway.  On the left side of the hallway are the doorways leading into our three exam rooms.  At the far end of the hallway, a kiddie playarea is tucked away for your children's enjoyment.

Also on the left side of the hallway is a 55 gallon freshwater tank containing different types of goldfish.  Currently, we have Theresa and Tanisha in the tank.  Marsha feeds and takes care of the fish and all of the plants.

Knightdale Animal Hospital has three exam rooms.  In the first and third exam rooms, we have motorized lift tables that elevate your large dog up to our level without causing a disc herniation in our technicians.  The tables also have digital scales to measure your pet's weight.

The middle room is reserved for small puppies, kittens and cats.

Kitty Condos

The photos to the left show the different types of accomadations available for your pet's boarding needs.  At top, we have a closer view of the kitty condos located in our waiting area.  This particular set of kitty condos has a plexiglass backside to allow your feline friend to keep a close watch on the comings and goings in the parking lot of Little Village Shopping Center.

The middle photo displays Broozer and Isciss modeling a medium sized stainless steel cage. The bottom photo shows the stainless steels runs reserved for large dogs.  These runs are 4 feet by 6 feet and feature a grated floor to keep your pet elevated and protected in the event of an overnight "potty" accident.

Boarders are welcome to bring their own food, toys and blankets from home to make their stay more comfortable.   Requirements for feline boarding are a current feline distemper vaccine and rabies vaccine.  Requirements for canine boarding are a current canine distemper combo vaccine, bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine, and rabies vaccine.  Each pet gets a brief technician examination at drop-off for boarding and their daily activities are closely monitored and recorded.  At check-out, boarders also receive a brief technician examination to make sure your pet is returned in as good of condition as when your pet arrived.

Cats are special guests at Knightdale Animal Hospital.  We have a completely separate room containing kitty condos for our feline guests.  The feline boarding room is located as far away from the canine boarding area as possible.  This helps a nervous kitty to relax and enjoy their stay away from home.  The feline boading room also has a french door that looks out onto the kiddie play area for your kitty's amusement.

Fenced Exercise Yard
Here is a photo of our large fenced exercise area.  Dogs are taken out individually, multiple times each day.  This is one of Marsha's favorite tasks.  Not only does she get to be outside for some fresh air, she gets to make friends and play with all of the different boarders!

To the right, we have our treatment area.  In our treatment area, we perform dental cleanings on our stainless steel wet table (right side of photo).  The wet table is covered with a grate which helps to keep your pet as dry as possible.  The wet table can also be used for hydrotherapy on small dogs and cats, bandage changes, etc.  The examination table (left side of photo) is used for so many different things that it would be impossible to identify all of them.  Some of the most common uses are surgical preparation, anal sac expression, blood drawing, etc.

The middle photo shows our surgical suite.  We have two surgical tables.  One is an adjustable trough type table to accomodate certain types of surgery.  The other is a heated surgical table that helps keep our patients body temperatures near normal during surgery.  While your pet is in surgery, we monitor heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, carbon dioxide output, and ECG to make their anesthesia experience as safe as possible.  Surgical patients have an intravenous catheter placed and receive IV fluids to help maintain normal blood pressure, perfuse organs and provide an easy route for administration of emergency drugs if necessary (this is an option with SPCA surgeries).

The last picture to the right shows our x-ray machine located in our radiology room.  Most people know what x-rays are but few people know that the proper name is actually radiographs (just a bit of trivia).
