Community Animal Hospital Virtual Tour
 |
Welcome to Community Animal Hospital! As you enter our facility, you will be greeted by one of our many friendly faces. While waiting to be escorted to an exam room, please feel free to make yourself comfortable in our waiting area to the right of the reception desk. If you would rather explore or shop, we have a beautiful stained glass mural to the left of reception that will take your breath away on a sunny day. There is also a small retail area for dental care products, skin care products and assorted types of Science Diet Pet Food. |

After a brief stay in our waiting area, a technician will be up to escort you and your pet into one of our 3 exam rooms. Each room is painted in a different color scheme. Room 3 is our green room (pictured to the right). Room 2 is our blue room, but most Carolina Fans prefer to think of it as our Tarhill Room. Lastly, we have Room 1, which is our antique French room. As with our Knightdale facility, we have lift tables in Rooms 1 and 3 for larger animals. Room 2 is used for felines and small canines. Please feel free to examine the assorted teaching aids and educational materials that are provided in each room. |

One of the many unique features of Community Animal Hospital is our open door policy for the exam rooms. There are no doors between the exam rooms and our laboratory area. This gives you a sneek peek into exactly what goes on behind the scenes while we are preparing for your visit. We are also able to preform a large variety of tests in our laboratory while you wait for the results. These tests include intestinal parasite examinations, heartworm tests, red blood cells counts, complete blood counts, and urinalysis. More extensive blood work is sent to our outside laboratory, Idexx. |

Pictured to the immediate left is our carbon dioxide laser. This specialized piece of equipment can be used as a substitute for a scalpel blade for most surgical procedures. The laser seals nerves and blood vessels as it cuts, to decrease blood loss and pain during your pet's surgical procedure. At our hospital, feline declaw surgeries are done only with laser. This minimizes the risk of nerve damage to your furry feline friend because traditional methods require that a tourniquet be applied to each leg during the entire procedure. When using the laser, no tourniquet is used. This is just one of the many great applications and advantages of using the laser during our surgical procedures.
Below the laser unit is our in-house ultrasound machine. Dr. Goodwin and Dr. Zurkowsky have received advanced training in ultrasonography and perform many routine ultrasounds each week. For more advanced ultrasounds, such as studies of the heart, we use a mobile ultrasound service composed of board certified imaging specialists. The specialist performs the ultrasound right in Community Animal Hospital! |

To the right is a snapshot of two "wet" tables in our treatment area. Dental procedures are performed in this area. Dental care is one aspect of veterinary medicine that no only impacts your pet's mouth but his overall health as well. Dental tartar and gum disease are not just "stinky" but can cause problems in other parts of your pet's body such as the heart, liver and kidneys. You can help by brushing your pet's teeth at home, but often times a professional cleaning is essential to proper dental care. Please feel free to ask if you have further questions about dental care.
Another crucial piece of diagnostic equipment located in our hospital is the x-ray machine. X-rays are used daily to diagnose conditions ranging from heart disease and cancer to broken bones. |

Lastly, we have our kennel area. We are able to provide accomodations for most smaller pets with either our small or medium stainless steel cages. For our larger guests, we have runs like our sister hospital. |
