Dr. Wendy Goodwin is from St. Paul, Virginia. She completed her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech and graduated from Kansas State University Veterinary School in 2002. She came to work at Community Animal Hospital in July 2002. In her senior year of vet school, she was honored as a Pet Trust Scholar "for compassion and professionalism in supporting clients who have suffered the loss of a pet." Dr. Goodwin is especially interested in combining alternative medicine with traditional veterinary medicine in treating her patients.
She is married to Tom, has a brand new daughter named Ava and a full home already with 2 cats "Mikey" and "Baby", and 3 dogs, "Piper", a Pug, "Dottie", a Pug and "Maggie", a Rat Terrier mix. Her warm personality, compassion, and unique views have been a great addition to our staff! |

Dr. Melanie Zurkowsky is from San Juan, Puerto Rico. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez Campus and graduated from the veterinary college at Ross University in St. Kitts. Dr. Zurkowsky and her husband, Chin, now live in the Raleigh area with their four legged family. She has 2 dogs, Taino (Golden Retriever), Rayo (Great Dane); 2 cats, Liani (domestic shorthair), Kenya (domestic shorthair); 1 ferret, Sheba; and 1 cockatiel, Enrique. When she is away from the hospital, Dr. Zurkowsky enjoys photography, exercise and scuba diving. She also has special interests in alternative medicine (acupuncture), orthopedics, and wildlife rehabilitation. Dr. Zurkowsky is a very warm, caring doctor that has helped our healthcare team cross language barriers. Dr. Zukowsky is fluent in Spanish and English. |

Dr. Ann MacCormac was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. After completing her undergraduate studies at Smith College and a masters degree at George Washingtion University, she pursued a career in international banking for several years. Her true loves, however, turned out to be animals and medicine. So she changed her career path and completed her doctorate of veterinary medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995.
Dr. MacCormac has a special interest in feline medicine and surgery, zoonotic diseases, and public health issues. She travels to Mexico several times a year to vaccinate and treat animals in impoverished areas.
Dr. MacCormac lives in Raleigh with her husband, daughter and their four-legged friends: Hobble (domestic short hair), Marigold (domestic short hair), and Alegra (German Shepherd).
When not practicing veterinary medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, gardening, and reading. Welcome Dr. Mac!! |
